Tubes World Tour 2021 featuring The Completion Backward Principle performed in full

"I think Completion Backward Principle is the best album we ever did for sure.” – Fee Waybill, The Tubes.

The San Francisco band which pioneered theatrics in rock ’n’ roll long before MTV and music video made it fashionable, will embark on a national tour in which they will perform their hit 1981 album, The Completion Backward Principle – their first for Capitol Records, produced by Grammy-winner David Foster – in its entirety. Led by lead singer Fee Waybill – known for an array of characters which include iconic, glam-rocking, stacked-heel vocalist Quay Lewd and punk parody Johnny Bugger – The Tubes’ current line-up also includes original members, drummer Prairie Prince, guitarist Roger Steen and bassist Rick Anderson along with longtime keyboardist David Medd.

The Tubes earned a rabid cult following in the mid-1970s with their outrageous live show. But it took a while for mainstream audiences to understand what the eclectic band was all about. Their A&M albums were very strong but failed to ignite the charts, and a hit single eluded the band until they teamed with David Foster and Capitol Records for 1981’s The Completion Backward Principle (whose visual concept presented The Tubes as conservative businessmen/yuppies). The AOR radio smash “Talk To Ya Later” and the Top 40 ballad “Don’t Want To Wait Anymore” provided the breakout that the band had been searching for.

A favorite of many Tubes fans, The Completion Backward Principle is a unique album in their catalog in that it married their quirky songwriting and stage persona with a commercial appeal that would be emphasized more heavily on their next album, Outside Inside.

Now, for the 40th anniversary of The Completion Backward Principle, this can’t miss album is celebrated with a must-see tour.
