“I don’t appeal to the masses and they don’t appeal to me” – Graham Parker, “Sharpening Axes”
Originally released on CD in 1996 on the independent Razor & Tie label, Graham Parker’s Acid Bubblegum finally makes its LP debut.
Inspired by the song "Bubblegum Cancer," Acid Bubblegum has been pressed onto pink bubblegum 12" vinyl and black 7" vinyl. Not only does it look cool, but splitting the tracklist in this way ensures optimal audio quality for this nearly 54-minute album, without forcing you to buy a double LP.
Following several acoustic-based albums, Acid Bubblegum found pre-punk angry young man Parker roaring back into venomous form backed by an all-star band of Jimmy Destri (Blondie), Andrew Bodnar (The Rumour) and Gary Burke (Joe Jackson).
Acid Bubblegum's bracing lyrical attack is, if anything, only more relevant today.
LP includes new liner notes essay by Graham Parker.
